Factors That Cause Lazy Eye

Eye, as one of the most delicate organs for humans, should be taken seriously from infancy. Some diseases of the eye, take a lazy eye, for example, would be cured if treated early. Lazy eye is medically called "Amblyopia", a vision problem caused when the vision in one eye fails to develop properly in childhood. If detected under the age of 7 years, can be treated effectively under normal conditions. To know more about how to detect the lazy eye problem earlier, you can visit this site.

Lazy eye is formed mainly due to the following factors, including squinting, refractive error, cataracts, and other conditions such as eye injury.

Squinting

Squinting also known as strabismus is a condition when the eyes look in different directions. One eye may look straight ahead and the other may indicate in, out, up or down. To avoid seeing double, the brain automatically disregards one eye and only rely on the eyes staring straight ahead. When the brain is totally ignoring the signals from the non-dominant eye, the normal visual pathway is not well developed and it starts developing amblyopia.

Refractive Error

Myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism all are refractive errors, which can lead to amblyopia. If there is a difference in refraction in the two eyes, anisometropia may result. Some will confuse myopia and hyperopia with amblyopia because they are both due to refractive errors and then take it for granted.

In dealing with amblyopia, the most effective way is prevention in childhood.
